A small clear crystal vase designed by Léon LEDRU for Val Saint Lambert around the turn of the 20th century. The "Danse de Flore" series included a large variety of household utensils such as vases, bowls, ashtrays, glasses etc. in combination with clear and different coloured crystal and decorated with 24 carat gold.
This beautiful little vase has satin crystal opaque medallions and 24 carat gold decoration of Ancient Greek figures. The top rim of the vase is plated with gold.
The vase is in MINT condition and bears an engraved signature "Val St. Lambert" on the base.
Léon Ledru (1855-1926) was a French glassmaker and designer. He was the manager of the design department of the Cristalleries du Val Saint Lambert in Belgium for 38 years. Through the firm's work at the 1897 Brussels `'Exposition Internationale" he stimulated interest in avant-garde design.
