Stunning sideboard with a wooden structure with rosewood veneer, white formica and gray marble. Inside 4 drawers and shelves in rosewood. The rosewood on the inside gives the sideboard a very high end look. The inside is as beautiful as the outside!
In good overall vintage condition. The marble (removable) is slightly damaged (a corner of the marble topping is missing and there are some scratches in the marble).
Alfred Hendrickx (°1931, Belgium) was one of the most prominent Belgian furniture designers in the fifties. His grandfather Eugène Van Fleteren founded the firm Van Fleteren in Mechelen in the interwar period. After the war the firm was specialized in boat interiors, but switched around 1950 to the production of home furniture. Alfred Hendrickx designed a lot of furniture for Van Fleteren in the fifties. These designs were brought together around 1953 as a new furniture line in a catalog named Belform. Two more catalogs followed. In 1958 his furniture was exposed at the Brussels World Expo.
